Orangutans are primates which belong to the group of great apes, known for their intelligence.
Orangutans are the largest living arboreal animal as they live in trees.
Their hair is reddish which clearly distinguish them from other great apes. Other characteristic that make them different is that they have longer arms and short legs. In fact, arms are twice as long as their legs.
Males and females are significantly different, characteristic known as sexual dimorphism.
Two thirds of orangutan’s diet is made of fruit and the remaining is made from several plants.
Orangutan intelligence is well documented and there are some scientists that state they are the most intelligent animal other than humans.
