Pagophilus groenlandicus

The Harp Seal is white in color and it lives in the cold areas of Antarctica. The coat will start to turn gray though as the seal gets older. The young tend to spend plenty of time on land but as they get older they will also spend more and more of their time in the water.

The Harp Seal has thick fur and layers of blubber that allow it to be able to thrive in such a cold region. They can grow as long as 6 feet and weigh up to 400 pounds. They have to find a variety of food items based on region and the time of the year. They can spend many hours a day trying to find food.
