Aptenodytes forsteri

There are 17 species of Penguins and the Emperor Penguin is the largest of them. They live in the very cold regions ofAntarctica–both on land and in the water. They rely on their bodies to keep them warm. They live in large colonies and will huddle together.

The journey for breeding is very long and dangerous for the Emperor Penguin. The females pass the egg to the males who will stay in the bitter cold for it to hatch. The females will go find food and then come back to feed the young so that the males can go feed.
