Rainbow Lorikeet

The Rainbow Lorikeet is an Australasian bird mainly found in Australia and Indonesia. Just like the rainbow, this bird has is full of color, with its body and feathers having a display of different colors. It is difficult to distinguish the males and females by appearance and therefore, this can be done by observing their characteristics (dimorphism).

Peacocks

Peacocks are colorful pheasants that are blur or green in color. They have tail feathers that spread out, giving a colorful display of beauty. The tail feathers, also called coverts, are long and have markings mostly in the colors blue, red, gold. The male peacock is elegant and makes strides in pride, showing off its colorful and elegant covert. This plays a role in courtship displays and mating rituals. The females pick their mate according to the quality, size, and color of the elegant covert.

Golden pheasants

Golden pheasants are beautiful birds that have a blonde head and multi-colored plumage. Their crest is red and yellow-colored. The face and bottom parts of their body are white and red in color. Their shoulders also colorful, Their native habitat is the mountain forests in western China but they have been found in some parts of Europe and South America. The male birds are more brightly colored than the female ones.

Blue Jay

Nicknamed ‘jay jay’, this bird is not only beautiful and elegant- it is also intelligent. It mimics the voice of the hawk to scare other birds and rob them of their eggs and nests. It is commonly found in Central and East Africa. They have a white face and blue crest on their heads. They have a black color across the sides of their heads. Their legs are also black in color.

Horned Sungem

The male Horned Sungem appears to have horns but these are actually feathers that look like horns. The males also have a brighter plumage, compared to that of the females. This bright and beautiful bird is found in South American jungles.

The Quetzal

The Quetzal is very beautiful, covered with feathers that have vibrant colors. It inhabits mountain forests in the tropical parts of Central America. In Guatemala, this bird is an endangered species. They feed on fruits and small creatures such as lizards and insects.

Hyacinth Macaw/ Blue Macaw

The  Hyacinth Macaw has a cobalt blue plumage and large eyes which have bright yellow rings around them. It is the world largest flying parrot, growing to lengths of up to 1 meter. They are an endangered species because of habitat loss, caged bird trade, and habitat loss. The mostly fed on fruits and have inhabited the savannas of Northern Brazil.

We do imagine paradise to be a place full of beauty and elegance. The Bird of Paradise is an elegant bird that is colorful, with the male species being more stunning. The male Bird of Paradise has a blue beak, yellow, crown, maroon-brown plumage, emerald green neck and a long and way tail that is white and yellow in color. The female is less colorful, wit maroon-brown feathers.
