Land Snail
Facts about Snails
Land Snails refer to mollusks with coiled shells that live on land.
There are also sea snails and
freshwater snails.
Land snails can be found in a
wide range of habitats including gardens, deserts, mountains, woodlands and many
others.
Land snails are herbivores and
eat the plants common in their habitat.
Land snails breathe air using
lungs and they develop a shell which grows as the snail grows with a substance secreted by the
snail made of calcium carbonate.
Some snails hibernate during
winter periods.
All land snails are
hermaphrodites, producing both spermatozoa and ova.
