Facts about Penguins
Penguins are birds fully adapted to aquatic life.
Penguins cannot fly and they live
exclusively in the southern hemisphere mainly Antarctica but some species live as north as the
Galapagos Islands.
Penguin species are diverse in
size and habitat. The largest species is the Emperor Penguin, reaching up to 1.2 meters tall. The
smallest penguin is the Fairy Penguin, which reach only 40 cm tall.
Penguins feed from krill and
small fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods, but this varies from species to
species.
Penguins are known for their
white and black color which is a camouflage adaptation to avoid being seen from
below.
