Facts about Elephants
Elephants are mammals and they are the largest land animal.
They also have the largest
gestation period of any land animal lasting up to 22 months.
Elephants are easily recognized
because their long trunk and a couple of long tusks.
Elephants are herbivores and they
spend up to 16 hours a day collecting plants, grass, leaves, bamboo, roots and some fruits and
flowers.
There are two species of
elephants, the African Elephant and the Asian Elephant and they can be easily identified because
the African elephant have much larger ears. Also the African Elephant is larger than the Asian
Elephant.
