Facts about Dolphins
Dolphins are cetaceans, closely related to whales and porpoises. They are
mammals fully adapted to aquatic life.
There are less than 40 species of dolphins. While most of them live in the
ocean, there are five species of dolphins that live in rivers, being the most known of them the
Boto or Amazon Pink Dolphin
As mammals, dolphins nurse their kids with milk from the mother.
Dolphins need to breathe air; therefore, they have a blowhole in the top of
their head to reach the surface. However, dolphins are great swimmers and they can remain
underwater for as long as 15 minutes and go as deep as 260 meters.
Dolphins are one of the most intelligent animals in the world.
